At 2 and 3 years old, a child discovers materials with their hands before discovering tools. The right gift at this age is not one that requires precision, but one that leaves a mark: a color appearing under their fingers, a sticker that sticks, a shape that fits into its hole.

Painting without brushes

Finger painting is the perfect introduction to color: no tools to master, an immediate result, and the sensory pleasure of the material. Large stamps with handles and early ergonomic wax crayons take over as the hand becomes more precise, around age 3.

Stickers and first collages

Sticking requires less dexterity than cutting, making it the ideal activity at this age. Stickers, posters to complete, and pre-cut shapes allow children to compose an image without frustration.

Manipulating and nesting
